Outfit 1/59: Red Tunic, Grey Cardigan, Pinstripe Pants, Chevron Vans

My first outfit from this capsule is here! It's a whole new shape for me: flowy, long top over wide, flowy pants. I steered away from this sort of top for a while after having kids because the shape felt like maternity or nursing clothes to me. It was too soon. Now I think I'm ready to try flowy clothes again - a little bit.

I think this shirt will go well with tighter pants and with a couple shapes of skirts, too. I'll try to figure out some other outfits with it as the season goes on.

It feels fun to do something different (especially since the rest of my capsule is pretty similar to what I've been wearing for the past few months). I think this is a great way to spice up a capsule wardrobe: just try one piece that has a new shape for you, or a new color. If you only wear it once, so be it. The rest of your wardrobe can be your standard, comfortable style, color, or shape, so you can always fall back on your favorites if you don't feel up to wearing your experimental clothes.

Are you trying anything new this winter? What colors are you drawn to now - or for spring? I like red and teal and dark green.
