It's getting a little more summery around here, finally! The kids are thrilled that we'll be going swimming this weekend. I'm pretty happy about it, too.

Phew! Sorry I haven't posted for a while. The long weekend just kept on going, as far as blogging was concerned. So I have six outfits to share today.
Outfit 22/61: Constellation t-shirt, capri jeans, and ankle boots. This silhouette is different for me, with the sleeves flaring out a bit and the pant legs seeming to flare from my ankles. I think it's fun.
Outfit 23/61: Eagle t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, and white Converse. Here's my uniform of a t-shirt and jeans, with rolled up pant legs and a beaded bracelet to add a couple little tweaks.
Outfit 24/61: typewriter t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, and Anhu shoes. This shirt from Modcloth would be perfect if it were 2 or 3 inches inches longer, but I like it well enough as-is. That cute little guy in front? I wouldn't change a thing.
Outfit 25/61: Pin dot shirt, jeans, and ankle boots.
Outfit 26/61: Grey tunic, jeans, and sandals. My toes saw the sun!
Outfit 27/61: Black and white striped tunic, jeans, and espadrilles. Bodhi is wearing his Thomas pjs and a bucket for a hat.

Today I wanted to make some lip balm, so I started looking at ingredients and containers online. It is so easy to fill up an online shopping cart with tons of fun stuff! But I made lip balm a year ago, and I knew I had some things left over. It turns out, I already had everything I needed. I made orange-vanilla-honey lip balm today, and it felt extra satisfying since I didn't have to buy anything! Now I want to make lotion bars, and depending on which recipe I choose, I might already have all those ingredients, too.

Outfit 19/61: Black swing tank, kimono shirt, capri jeans, and espadrilles.
Outfit 20/61: Wine shirt, jeans, and white Converse.
My friend's son just had a birthday, and he got tons of toys! And the lovely friends and family also brought gifts for the little sister and the baby brother, too. How generous and thoughtful! But it's so many toys, my friend doesn't know what to do with them all. We were talking about the idea of receiving things like zoo passes or tickets to the aquarium or a museum. I think I will suggest those things to relatives this year, if anyone asks what my kids want for Christmas or birthdays. If they don't ask, I won't mention it. But I hope they do ask, because it would be great to have more experiences and less stuff. How do you deal with gifts? Do you have any other ideas for limiting kid stuff?

Outfit 15/61: Ivory top, capri jeans, and orange Converse.
Outfit 16/61: Blue and white shirtdress and espadrilles.
Outfit 17/61: Navy striped t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, and white Converse.
Outfit 18/61: Blue plaid shirt, boyfriend jeans, and Vans.
I'm still loving this spring capsule so far. I have a ton of options and don't feel like I'll be bored at all. I'm planning to sew some more clothes, but we'll see if I make the time for it.

This skirt is an add-on to my spring capsule. (I sewed it myself, so it doesn't have to fit in my 40-item limit. This is a way that I encourage myself to sew more clothes.) It's very lightweight, yet opaque. It's flowy and it doesn't cling - perfect!

9/61: Blue funnel-neck sweater, boyfriend jeans, and Vans. And I made a white, springtime beaded wrap bracelet. I could spend so many hours making those in different color combinations. I love a little project that I can finish in a day or two.
It has been chilly and rainy at my house this week, and tomorrow it might snow again! I don't live in the mountains, so it is somewhat surprising to get a couple inches of snow this late. I'm glad I have a couple sweaters in my capsule to keep me warm since the temperature is only in the 40s this weekend. My kids were wearing swim suits around the house this morning, so you can guess how they feel about this cold weather: they are ready for summer!

I'm wearing my uniform again: a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Look at my face: I'm serious about loving this uniform.
Even though we just donated some toys and clothes to a charity this morning, I already found a few more things to add to our donation box (just an empty box in the garage that I gradually fill up with things we don't need anymore). A great thing about having the box in the garage is that we have a little time to make sure we don't miss that stuff before it's actually gone (okay, sometimes that's a drawback).
This time, I ended up retrieving two toy fire trucks after my son asked for them multiple times over the last couple weeks. He also spent a while searching for them. I thought he'd forget about them, but he didn't. He has been so thrilled to have them back and has played with them constantly since they reappeared.
I guess that's a good argument for the idea of rotating toys - packing some away and then after a couple months, get those out and pack up some different ones. Then the kids appreciate and enjoy the ones they haven't seen for a while, plus there's space to play with, ease of finding, and increased ability to focus on the ones they have out. Huh. Maybe kind of like what I'm doing with my clothes.

This outfit's really simple and neutral. I didn't even accessorize at all. But I still really like it. All the pieces just work well for me.
Tomorrow a charity is coming by to pick up donations, so I've been trying to round up a few (or many!) more things to add to our boxes. I zipped through my son's clothes while he was busy playing (though he did take back one shirt). I added several things from my closet and hoped to go through more, but my cold is wearing me out and I think I will call it good for tonight. There's always next time.

Outfit 1/61: Black swing tank top, kimono shirt, red skirt, and black espadrilles.
Outfit 2/61: Octopus t-shirt, jean shorts, and white slip-on Converse.
Outfit 3/61: Wine t-shirt, grey shorts, and white Converse slip-ons.
Outfit 4/61: Flowered tunic, leggings, and espadrilles.
I'm sorry to tell you that I didn't take photos of all the components of my spring capsule yet. I have a cold that's making me super tired and I can do things in little spurts and then I have to sit down for a long time. I'll get it done as soon as I can! I think it's fun to see a whole wardrobe laid out as a graphic. It makes it easy to visualize all the mixing and matching that is possible. I'll get there soon.

My last April outfit: a tunic and leggings with sandals. This transition month, I kept my winter clothes out and added 20 spring pieces so I could adapt to the changing weather. It worked out great for me! I think I will do something similar in September.
Coming up next is the list of clothes that I decided on for the next two months. It took me a little over an hour to lay them out on my bed, jot down a list, and then cross some things off and put them away. The decision process felt pretty easy this time.
