Outfits 78 - 81 Summer '16

Hi guys! Today was almost chilly, so it made me think about fall and what I want to wear for the next few months. No surprise, I want jeans and boots and sweaters, like every year ever. I spotted these babies and am thinking about them:

Vans Prairie Chukka ((Suede) Dusty Rose) Women's Lace-up Boots

I do not need more shoes, but I am considering these anyway. I'll tell you if I get them or get over them.

I also might get a long cardigan. This one looks great to me, but it's 55% cotton and 45% acrylic and ideally I'd prefer more natural fibers.

Women's Bp. Open Front Cardigan

The reviews are good and there has been a great selection of colors (it seems to sell out and be restocked), so we'll see if I find something I like better.

I don't have anything else in mind to buy, which is awesome! I have a lot of clothes from last fall and winter that I still love, and I'm excited to get to wear them again.

And now for some recent outfits:

Outfits 69 - 77 Summer '16

Hi guys, this past week was a whirlwind. Violet started kindergarten and Bodhi started preschool. They both did well and seem to like their teachers and classes - phew! I think next week will seem easier, as I figure out when we have to leave to pick up and drop off the kids, where to park, what kind of snacks they'll eat, etc...

Sometimes having deadlines and time limits really increases my productivity. I'm hopeful that I'll feel motivated to work on projects and to organize the messy parts of the house, in between dropping off and picking up kids. Also, I'm really enjoying having one-on-one time with each of my kids. It's such a different dynamic and it's really nice.

Is it cooling off yet where you live? We've had a couple of cooler days and they felt amazing. We're still hoping for a few more hot days before our neighborhood pool closes for the season, but it's really nice to have a break from the 90+ degree temps!

And now some recent outfits:

I'm thinking about altering these jeans to make the flares a bit smaller. I haven't done it before, so I'm hesitant to try, but there are a ton of tutorials and videos online to learn from, so I hope I'll be brave and go for it!

Outfits 59 - 68 Summer '16

Hi guys! What have you been doing lately? We've been squeezing in as many play dates and afternoons at the pool as we can. Next week, my kids start school (already!) I'm so sad to see less of them, but they've been helping me with that by behaving badly - ha! They're crying, whining, fighting, tattling, and disregarding many, many requests to pick up after themselves. Maybe some time away from them will make my heart grow fonder and my eyes stop rolling!

And now the important things; some recent outfits. I haven't written for a while, so I have a lot to share.

Pineapple rayon Willow tank, pattern from Grainline Studio. This is a new top I sewed recently and I love it! It feels super summery to me.
Cropped jeans
Strappy ballerina flats (similar)

Striped Lark t-shirt, pattern from Grainline Studio
Linen Oceanside shorts, pattern from Blank Slate Patterns
Pikolinos oxfords

Striped Penny Raglan shirt, pattern from Grainline Studio. The third photo and fourth photos demonstrate that my bra shows when I wear this, so I choose a pretty bralette that's very modest if I lean over and the shirt gapes at the neckline. I don't mind it peeking through the arm holes or showing at the large neckline.
Cropped jeans
White Converse

Boatneck Lark t-shirt, pattern from Grainline Studio. I didn't get a good photo of the neckline, but this fabric wasn't the perfect choice for it. It kind of sags down, which is okay with me, but not exactly what I had in mind (more of a smooth, straight-across neckline). Next time, a sturdier knit! Or I will try to reinforce the neckline with clear elastic.
Jean shorts
Clarks sandals (similar)
